Former MADEIN’s Gaeun Wins Big In Court After Exposing CEO’s Sexual Harassment

Former MADEIN member Gaeun, who had accused the CEO of her former agency, 143 Entertainment, of sexual harassment, has won big in court.

    Gaeun

According to the Hanbit Media Labor Human Rights Center, on August 4, KST, the Seoul Central District Court granted an injunction request filed by the idol against 143 Entertainment. Gaeun filed the request on July 31, seeking to suspend the exclusive contract with the agency.

As per the court’s ruling released by the Hanbit Center, while granting the injunction, the court addressed the sexual harassment allegations against 143 Entertainment’s CEO, Lee Yong Hak.

As an executive director of the company, who bears the obligation to protect and support the artists under contract, he committed acts that should not have occurred.

In addition, the court noted that there was no evidence suggesting that the company had any intentions to carry out management activities for Gaeun.

Previously, Gaeun had filed a criminal complaint against CEO Lee, accusing him of subjecting her, a minor at the time, to verbal abuse, threats, molestation, and sexual harassment. Gaeun was subsequently removed from MADEIN, but her exclusive contract with the company remained in effect. Consequently, she filed for an injunction, along with a lawsuit to terminate the contract.

While fans are happy that Gaeun is finally free from the agency, they also expressed concern for the rest of the MADEIN members and hoped that they could all get out of their contracts soon.

That’s a mercy at least, but that predator is still there.

Every single member should be able to break their contract in such a situation! https://t.co/UvpUBSh5YR

    FREE GAEUN!
    FREE MADEIN!
    FUCK 143 ENTERTAINMENT!

reminder that even though gaeun is free mashiro, miu, nagomi and serina are all still trapped in contract with an admitted sexual predator, the end of which would put their visas in jeopardy. unless madein disbands they could stay perpetually under the thumb of a dangerous man. https://t.co/KhsSTyjCy4
