Despite being labelmates, they hardly met each other.

Generally, when a K-Pop idol debuts under the same label as successful senior artists, they get to enjoy the privilege of interacting with those seniors and even develop close relationships. However, not every label affords this “luxury” to its artists.
One such instance would be Pledis Entertainment’s treatment of the girl group Fromis_9, as shared by the members of the group themselves.

Recently, Fromis_9 members Chaeyoung and Jiwon shared the heartbreaking truth on SEVENTEEN member Seugnkwan’s YouTube show, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo.
The SEVENTEEN member gave a very warm and candid welcome to the two idols, playfully complaining about how the group left Pledis Entertainment without even saying goodbye. The two joked, “We were in such a rush.” The episode progressed with Seungkwan admitting that this was the first time he was having a long conversation with them, and Jiwon revealing that during their time at Pledis, they “couldn’t even step on their shadows.”
The Fromis_9 members immediately brought up how they were instructed to move out of sight the moment SEVENTEEN would show up at the practice room. “We were told to take off even our shoes and leave,” Chaeyoung added, speculating, “In case our feet smelled, perhaps.”
Seungkwan appeared shocked at this revelation and expressed his sympathy for his juniors. He also attested to the fact that whenever his group was using the basement practice room of the old Pledis building, they “never saw a soul.” Chaeyoung explained, “It was a system where we could never be seen.”
Apparently, staff members would warn the girls in advance that SEVENTEEN members were on their way to the practice room. Chaeyoung recalled, “We were really worried about stepping on your shadows.”
Seungkwan, still shocked, recalled an incident in which he walked into a fromis_9 member singing in the practice room, and she immediately left, panicking and profusely apologizing. He mentioned that it looked like “she was in a place she didn’t belong.” Chaeyoung then confessed that it was probably her.
This anecdote has sparked heated backlash against Pledis Entertainment on social media, with netizens questioning the label’s reasoning for subjecting fromis_9 to such a harsh system.
