Roh Yoon-seo, Lee Chae-min
- tvN has announced production for Why I Decided to Die (roughly translated), entangling Lee Chae-min (Cashero) with Roh Yoon-seo (The East Palace) in the time-loop romance and webtoon-adaptation. The two actors were previously paired three years ago in Crash Course in Romance and it’s reunions all around with the team led by PD Kim Hee-won (Tempest, Little Women) and PD Choi Jung-kyu (The East Palace), who are co-directing for a second time after Soundtrack #2. The series is expected to broadcast in 2027. [MBC]
- KBS has lined up Lee Min-jung (Once Again) and Kim Ji-suk (New Recruit 2) to butt heads as soon-to-be-exes and estranged co-owners of a wedding dress shop in Okay Let’s Divorce (roughly translated). Alongside Lee Hyun-jin (Gold Mask), Lee Jin-yi (The Dream Life of Mr. Kim), and Ahn Nae-sang (Fifties Professionals) among other talents, the romance is slated to premiere on August 19 in the Wednesday-Thursday slot. - On Netflix, the first poster has dropped for the melodrama Possible Love, starring Jeon Do-yeon (The Price of Confession), Sol Kyung-gu (Hyper Knife), Jo In-sung (Moving), and Jo Yeo-jung (The Affair Was Just the Beginning). Helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Lee Chang-dong (Burning, Poetry), the movie will first be showcased at the Venice Film Festival as well as the Toronto International Film Festival this September. And after a limited theater release, online streaming will be made available starting on November 6. [Ilgan Sports, MBC]
- In the meantime, preparations continue for the Netflix film Shaving (also known by the Korean title Dochabi or ‟goblin”), which now has Jeon Jong-seo (Queen Woo) reportedly in talks to potentially join Kim Do-hoon (Dear X) and Lee Jun-ki (Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramun) in the lineup. Mixing Korean folklore with fantasy in a sageuk setting, filmmaker Ahn Tae-jin (The Night Owl) and screenwriter Hwang Sung-koo (The King’s Warden) are leading production. [Ilgan Sports, Sports Seoul]
- It’s certainly a busy time on the Netflix front, with the rom-com Our Sticky Love also continuing promos. And we catch another peek at Jung Hae-in (Love Next Door) and Ha-young (Teach You a Lesson) in the latest bundle of stills, blurring the line between lies and real love. Directed by PD Kim Jang-han (My Demon) alongside writing by Mo Ji-hye (You Raise Me Up), the 12-episode series will be coming to our screens on August 7 next week. [SBS]
- A regal Shin Mina (Karma) is crowned The Remarried Empress in the fantasy’s first poster from Disney+. Based on the popular webnovel and webtoon by the same title, the series remake also stars Joo Ji-hoon (Climax), Lee Jong-seok (Law and the City), and Lee Se-young (Motel California) to form our story’s twisty love square. The royal court will be opening sometime this fall, with PD Jo Su-won (My Happy Ending, Thirty But Seventeen) directing and scripts by Yeo Ji-na (The Uncanny Counter 1, Il Mare) and Hyun Choong-yeol.
