It’s a season of ~love~ in the tvN offices this year, with My Bias, My Boss (previously Favorite Employee) now lined up on the summer schedule and arranging the cubicles with Kang Hoon (Hunter with a Scalpel), Kim Hye-joon (Cashero), and Cha Woo-min (Spirit Fingers) in the first script reading.
The office rom-com is centered around a start-up company called Appello, where Kang Hoon takes on the role of our CEO Kang Ha-ki. As a self-assured leader, Ha-ki is both charismatic and level-headed. But he also has an affectionate side and can be shy or awkward when it comes to romance.
This of course brings us to the bright and spirited Nam Da-reum – played by Kim Hye-joon – who has recently been hired for the marketing team and she’s especially excited to work. You see, the job turned out to be a fangirl’s dream come true because Appello is also managed by her long-time idol bias.
He is Cha Woo-min playing the part of superstar Lee Chan, a member of the idol group D.N.X. In the 10 years since disbanding, though, Chan has moved onto Appello, where he is the fashion director and works together with his close friend Ha-ki. Chan is also acting and is currently filming a project with his co-star, ITZY’s Yuna (Undercover Miss Hong).
Additional supporting characters include Da-reum’s two besties, Gong Ji-ho (Buried Hearts) and Kim Ah-young (Boyfriend on Demand), as well as Ha-ki and Chan’s high school friend, Hwang Sung-bin (Agent Kim Reactivated).
At Appello, Heo Joon-seok (Heroes Next Door), Kim So-ra (Shark – The Storm), Song Jin-woo (Villains Everywhere), Kim Chae-eun (Dreaming of a Freaking Fairy Tale), and Hwang Jung-min (Law and the City) will be staffing the offices. And we can also expect to see Da-reum’s fellow new hires, Nam Hyun-woo (Spring Fever) and Lee Dam-hee (Colony).
Last but not least, Chan’s D.N.X. teammates are Chun Woo-jin (Checkmate), CIX’s Hyunsuk (The Chairman Is Level 9), EPEX’s Baekseung (Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha), and Jung Hyun-min (Azure Spring).
Adapted from the popular webtoon My Oppa Is an Idol, tvN’s My Bias, My Boss is slated to premiere on August 3 and will be following See You at Work Tomorrow in the Monday-Tuesday slot. The series has PD Park Ji-hyun and PD Jung Da-hyung at the helm, alongside writing by Lee Young (Siren’s Kiss) and Kim Ji-ahn.
