A Korean actress confessed the shocking reasons she left the entertainment industry, evoking sympathy from netizens.
On July 30th, MBN‘s Exclusive World featured Kim Se In. Kim Se In debuted as the lead in an independent film and subsequently received offers in films and dramas, but suddenly left the entertainment industry. The promising actress was supporting herself by working as a food delivery rider.
Raised comfortably under her businessman father, Kim Se In revealed, “During the IMF foreign exchange crisis, the three of us—my mom, dad, and I—lived in a warehouse-like place without a bathroom. Around the time I entered high school, things got seriously worse.”
To support her family financially, Kim Se In became an actress as soon as she turned 20. However, her situation did not improve, and eventually, she took on roles involving nudity to earn money.
She said, “At that time, I really needed tens of millions of won, and my family was in such a difficult situation that I felt I had to bear the responsibility. My father was really angry and resented the collapse of his business so much—I felt very sorry,” showing tears.
Her mother has been in a coma for 15 years. Kim Se In was also going through a difficult period as an actress at the time. She said, “I got fed up with the entertainment industry. The agency head would drag me to nightclubs and constantly harass me.”
She added, “Meanwhile, my mother collapsed. Every day felt like hell. I hated living.” Because of this, Kim Se In left for Malaysia, worked as a tour guide, and prepared to settle down there but had to return home due to COVID-19.
