A Korean singer is causing controversy with her “shameless” request while claiming she spent all her money on buying a newlywed home.
On November 4th, a video titled “Scolded by her stingy father, making family kimchi (+Wedding date announcement)” was released on YouTube.
In the video, Seo In Young surprised viewers by announcing her wedding date as December 26. She said, “I want to get it over with quickly. It will be a small ceremony at a church,” and her mother added, “I told her to get it done quickly within this year.”
Seo In Young also said, “I’m cutting out the congratulatory songs and everything else. No flower decorations either. I removed all the bad memories,” hinting at a modest ceremony. Previously, Seo revealed that she had spent ₩100 million KRW (about $74,600 USD) just on flower decorations for her first wedding.
Furthermore, Seo’s mother mentioned that Seo will move upstairs in the apartment they currently live in in December. “She liked Namyangju, so she bought the upstairs unit,” she shared, revealing the purchase of their newlywed home.
In response, Seo told the production team, “Please get some home appliance sponsorships. I have no money left. I spent it all on the house,” and the producer was taken aback, replying, “Oh, why are you like this?” as Seo sounded like she was pressuring for product placement.
Netizens expressed discomfort at Seo’s attitude, saying things like, “Blatant shamelessness disguised as honesty,” “Is this a sense of entitlement or just complaining about sponsorships?” “What’s so special about being a celebrity that she forces the PD of her own show to get sponsorships? Even as a joke, it’s hard to understand,” and “She has everything at home, so why not just use that?”
Meanwhile, Seo In Young married a non-celebrity businessman in 2023 but divorced the following year. She is set to remarry in December to Choi Ji Hoon, CEO of the content creative company NP.
