A Korean star honestly revealed why she decided to undergo plastic surgery and showed her changed appearance after the procedures.
On July 22nd, before-and-after photos along with a lengthy message were posted on Instagram by Maeng Seung Ji (also known as Maeng Seung Zi.)
She explained the reasons for the surgery on her philtrum, philtrum hollow, inner philtrum, and the corners of her mouth, sharing in detail the long process of deciding to have the surgery.
Maeng Seung Ji said, “About five years ago, I felt my philtrum looked a bit long. But since the midface proportion was rather short, I managed to endure it,” adding, “I looked into philtrum surgery at that time, but the risk of scarring was 100 out of 100, too high.”
Right after surgery
She went on, “Because I work in broadcasting, performances, and web dramas, I absolutely wanted to avoid heavy-looking plastic surgery and the risk of scarring, so I didn’t have the surgery.”
Instead, she tried a philtrum reduction procedure, saying, “It looked very pretty. The problem was that the effects would revert back in a month or two,” and confessed, “So I always overdrew my lips and shaded my philtrum hollow every day.”
Then, thanks to advancements in technology, she found a clinic that met her expectations in terms of natural results and scar management.

Maeng Seung Ji revealed, “As time passed and technology improved, I found a clinic that I thought was excellent with scar risk and natural appearance,” emphasizing, “I wanted a surgeon who specialized overwhelmingly in philtrum surgery and had many successful cases.”
She added, “I spent months researching that clinic, putting in a lot of effort to get consultations,” and recalled, “I felt the doctor was more meticulous than I am, disliked scarring more than I do, and was obsessed with natural results.”
During the consultation, the doctor gave her very realistic and detailed explanations about the surgery method and what to expect afterward, which built her trust in the clinic.
Above all, Maeng Seung Ji honestly shared why she had to be so cautious.
She said, “Because there’s too much to lose if plastic surgery fails, I searched for a clinic where success was guaranteed and after much deliberation, underwent surgery for the first time in 12 years.”
2nd week after the surgery
In closing, she expressed satisfaction, adding, “The photos show the first week, so my lips were swollen,” and, “My philtrum is shorter, so I think I look a bit younger.”
