Girl group LE SSERAFIM is facing scathing ridicule after being accused of “faking” their live vocals.

On August 16, LE SSERAFIM took the stage at the Summer Sonic Festival 2026 in Tokyo, delivering an hour-long set consisting of their biggest hits.

While the internet got abuzz with praise for the group’s commanding stage presence and live performance skills, an unexpected controversy also found its way to them. Some posts on social media alleged that the girl group was only pretending to sing live, while the actual vocals being played were pre-recorded and made to sound like live vocals. The accusation was based on a clip from the performance’s official livestream, in which both Yunjin and Sakura were seen turning the mic toward the audience while their voices continued at the same volume.

This clip has garnered nearly 2 million views in less than a day, inviting blistering criticism for the girl group and HYBE, its label.
This is how they convince their fandom that they’re always singing live with “almost no backtrack” 😭 https://t.co/EObmA1Vdix

It’s funny that Hybe had to learn how to make a great “live” pre-recording, cuz they couldn’t teach Lsfm how to sing😭
They really are a lost cause. https://t.co/zzMRDl53Tn

it’s lowkey scary how i could believe these were genuinely live vocals https://t.co/XotuBdZvbG

However, fans quickly came to LE SSERAFIM’s defense, fact-checking this claim. Citing audience videos taken at the festival, they pointed out that during the live performance on the ground, the members’ actual voices were distinctly heard over the backtrack. But in the livestream, the backtrack was all that could be heard, resulting in the awkward moment.
a backtrack that was only on the livestream, the vocals are loud and clear lmao pic.twitter.com/RxfzBEcLZI https://t.co/eDOJ0iJn2L

yall are sooo fucking annoying for spreading fake narratives as an excuse to hate on women. if u watch the whole performance, u will notice there was just loud backtrack at the start and they actually raised the mic volumes after the start. but ofc yall nitpick once again https://t.co/oysaV7N7Xr
