Premiere Watch: Our Sticky Love

Reasons to watch: Jung Hae-in and Ha-young will be nestled up as live-in partners in the new Netflix rom-com Our Sticky Love. There’s only one problem: their love is based on a lie.
The “sticky” in the drama’s title refers to the messed-up situation they find themselves in. Ha-young is a big-time prosecutor, just going about her crime-busting business, when she steps on the toes of a gangster who isn’t going take it lying down. In fact, he’s sending a goon to blow up her car and make sure she’s gone for good. And who would that goon be? Enter our hero, Jung Hae-in.
Except, after her car explodes, Ha-young isn’t dead. She’s only got amnesia. But it’s so severe that she doesn’t know who she is or how she ended up in this small-town hospital. The fact that she’s alive means she’s still in danger and Jung goes to the hospital, pretending to be her boyfriend, so that he can take her home and keep her safe from further harm – as it turns out, he’s recognized her as his first love.
Ha-young is skeptical but has little choice and the next thing she knows she’s hearing tall tales about how they met (“she pursued him”) and also failing miserably to fit into local life. But, of course, what’s really going on is that the leads are little by little falling in love – until she gets her memory back.
If you like cohabitation hijinks and fake loves that just might turn real, then this drama has your name all over it. I’ll be watching for Jung Hae-in – whose range in moving between good guy and bad guy is always worth a view. Also, I can’t help but think of the movie Overboard with a distinctively K-drama twist, and that tells me all I need to know about where I’ll be spending my weekend.
