Our Universe smiles on Bae In-hyuk, Noh Jung-eui

Heading into the last leg of promos ahead of next week’s premiere, tvN’s Our Universe has come out with more teasers, where the unprepared Bae In-hyuk (Check In Hanyang) and in-law Noh Jung-eui (Crushology 101) are faced with the most adorable as well as troublesome dilemma of co-parenting their baby nephew.
First, though, we face the sad turn of events that make baby Woo-joo – played by Park Yu-ho – an orphan after a sudden accident takes Dad Ha Joon (Confidence Queen) and Mom Park Ji-hyun (You and Everything Else). Aunt Woo Hyeon-jin (Noh Jung-eui) – Mom’s younger sister – then steps up to take custody of Woo-joo and raise him on her own. And having no other family to ask for help, Hyeon-jin reluctantly reaches out to Seon Tae-hyeong (Bae In-hyuk), Woo-joo’s uncle and Dad’s younger brother.
Thus begins their 1-month co-habitation and co-parenting operation. Shenanigans, here we come. And even though it’s a confusing situation to explain to nosy neighbors, the arrangement proves to be useful for our Hyeon-jin, allowing her time to get settled at her new corporate job. That is, until she runs into another pleasant surprise and she’s mortified in front of her team leader Park Seo-ham (The Murky Stream), who also happens to be her college sunbae and old crush.
Hyeon-jin and Tae-hyeong make it clear to everyone around them, as well as to themselves, that they’re just in-laws and nothing more. But we can see in the trailers that the lines are already blurring. And the second video teaser ends on a conflicting moment for our leads, as the young Woo-joo has seemingly started calling them, ‟Mom” and ‟Dad.”
Production for the rom-com has PD Lee Hyun-seok (Hello? It’s Me!, The King’s Affection) and PD Jung Yeo-jin (Durian’s Affair, Love in Contract) co-directing, with writing by Soo-jin, Shin Yi-hyun, and Jeon Yuri (Last Summer, Kiss Sixth Sense). Broadcasting in tvN’s newly restarting Wednesday-Thursday slot, Our Universe will be launching on February 4 next week.
