KBS’s upcoming family sitcom Cabbage Your Life (previously Shim-woo-myun Yeonli-ri) begins promotions with photos and a video of their first script reading. Reuniting Park Sung-woong (Nine Puzzles) and Lee Soo-kyung (Dog Knows Everything) since their last KBS sitcom, the story follows their family as they move from the big city to a rural village.
Sung Tae-hoon (Park Sung-woong) is your typical, hardworking family man. He rose up the ranks at work, earning himself a managerial title at a big company, but that all changes when he offers to transfer to Yeonli-ri (aka the grave). Of course, Tae-hoon did not expect them to actually relocate him, so he does everything he can to get back to Seoul.
While Tae-hoon is busy at work, his wife Jo Mi-ryeo (Lee Soo-kyung) raises their three sons by herself while being an influencer on the side. When she returns from Canada with the boys, she discovers her husband’s predicament and helps him adjust to rural life despite knowing nothing about it.
Playing the couple’s oldest son Sung Ji-cheon is Lee Jin-woo (Namib). Basically the definition of “mom’s friend’s son,” Ji-cheon is a medical student who got a perfect score on the CSAT, but despite his achievements, he seems to be struggling with some internal demons. Rather than go to school, he makes up excuses and hangs out with the village chief’s daughter Im Bo-mi, played by Choi Kyu-ri (Our Universe).
The two end up in a Romeo and Juliet-esque romance since Bo-mi’s parents, played by Lee Seo-hwan (Law and the City) and Nam Kwon-ah (When Life Gives You Tangerines), are opposed to the newcomers. According to them, no one from that company lasts even two months in their village, so they warn their daughter to not get too attached while butting heads with the family from Seoul.
Directed by PD Choi Yeon-su (Pump Up the Healthy Love) with scripts written by Song Jung-lim (My Merry Marriage) and Wang Hye-ji (Nothing Series), the twelve-episode sitcom Cabbage Your Life airs every Thursday starting March 26.
