A popular K-Pop idol has expressed regret over the changed culture of greetings in the music industry.
On the MBC show Radio Star aired on April 29, Wanna One and AB6IX member Lee Daehwi said, “I always tell juniors to greet well. But these days, young people’s greetings…” trailing off as he described the changed atmosphere.
He compared the current situation to the past, saying, “I want to get close to the juniors, but no one comes to visit me in the waiting room,” and “In the past, I used to go personally to greet them and hand over CDs, but these days, I end up going to greet the juniors first.”
Lee Daehwi pointed out, “These days, the culture of going to greet PDs has largely disappeared,” adding, “I hope it comes back. I still want to go and greet them.”
He revealed that his current attitude was influenced during his time with Wanna One by older members. Lee Daehwi recalled, “I debuted when I was 17. I was very young. At that time, I only got seven hours of sleep per week while promoting,” and “I did pre-recordings for music shows when I was exhausted and said, ‘I hope this is the last recording.’”
Hearing this, senior members called him aside and advised, “You shouldn’t have that kind of mindset. You have to be grateful to be on stage.” This advice became a turning point that changed his attitude.
