On Dad and I, Huh Chanmi, who was in the debut lineup of Girls’ Generation, revealed the pain she went through at that time.

On a recent episode of TV Chosun‘s Dad and I, Chanmi, the runner-up of Miss Trot 4, appeared. A 17-year debut veteran, she described herself as a “resilient trot phoenix.” Six years ago, she challenged Miss Trot 2 and boldly showcased her skills but received criticism for her unfortunate song choice and recorded poor results, ultimately failing to advance to the top 7.

Then last year, Chanmi made another attempt in Miss Trot 4. She completely changed her trot singing style and challenged the stage again. Watching her performance, everyone was surprised by her changed vocal technique and admired her indomitable spirit, sensing how much effort she had put in. She confidently secured the runner-up position in Miss Trot 4.

Next, the show revealed Chanmi’s home, which has become a source of pride for Namyangju City. Her father personally woke her up, and upon waking, Chanmi got out of bed.

For the first time, she showed her bare face. Everyone admired her pure, gentle face, saying she looked young and baby-like. Contrary to previous remarks that fans couldn’t recognize her without makeup, her unblemished bare face caught attention.

Chanmi is particularly known as an SM Entertainment trainee since the age of 14 and was part of Girls’ Generation’s debut lineup. She trained for six years but never got her debut opportunity despite enduring the long training period. Her father recalled, “I simply hoped my daughter would succeed. I wanted her to become a singer quickly.”

Her father waited for her debut patiently. Finally, in 2010, Chanmi debuted with Coed School, a 10-member mixed-gender idol group. However, their activities were suspended after just two months. Afterward, Chanmi reactivated with F-ve Dolls in 2011 but was demoted back to a trainee due to her short trainee period and withdrew after a year. Chanmi said, “The CEO told me to practice more.”

Chanmi tearfully said, “My parents really struggled beside me.” Her parents revealed that she had been deeply shaken by the hardships and setbacks, having nearly given up on life due to malicious comments, which was shocking. They wanted her to quit after seeing their daughter hurt. However, her father said, “Despite all the difficulties, she told us, ‘I must succeed for mom and dad.’ I told her to pursue her dream.” It was a family that quietly supported and encouraged Chanmi from behind the scenes.
