Amid WINNER Song Mino‘s current legal issues, his past comments about his mental health have resurfaced.

It was reported that WINNER’s Mino skipped 102 days of his mandatory military service while working as a public service worker, with a possible three-year prison sentence as a consequence. Recently, the idol appeared in court for his first trial, where prosecutors asked for an 18-month prison sentence.

Mino’s diagnosed illnesses have been mentioned during the trial, leading his disclosure to resurface.
In 2022, WINNER appeared on Oh Eun Young’s Gold Counseling Center, where he disclosed for the first time that he had bipolar disorder. He previously shared that he had panic disorder, but in this appearance, said he was diagnosed with both in 2017.
That is when I began to see a doctor. I was diagnosed with panic and bipolar disorder, so now I receive treatment and medicine for them. It was really hard. […] I would cry when nobody was watching after during filming breaks, and then go back to shoot again. Life felt tragic whenever the camera stops rolling.

Bipolar disorder is characterized by extreme mood swings, ranging from high-energy mania/hypomania to low-mood depression, and can range in how effective treatment is, as it appeared to in Mino’s case based on his statements.
