Lee Yumi, Jung Geon-joo
- Casting reportedly continues for SBS’s upcoming Nightmare, with Lee Yumi (As You Stood By) now tapped to walk the path of revenge and become a police officer, potentially joining Kim Nam-gil (Trigger) to tackle the issue of a dream-manipulating AI. With both actors remaining in talks, production for the crime sci-fi has PD Lee Dan (Taxi Driver 2, Our Beloved Summer) and writer Kim Kyu-won (Alice) leading the team. [Sports Seoul]
- Jung Geon-joo (Mercy for None) is said to be reviewing an offer to play the male lead (finally!) in the horror-mystery M – Reboot. If all the stars align, he’ll be starring alongside Jung Chae-yeon (Beyond the Bar) in this remake of MBC’s hit drama M from 1994. Expected to release on an online streaming platform later this year, the thriller has PD Im Dae-woong (Bitch x Rich 2, Night Has Fallen) directing with scripts by Hong Eun-mi (Hidden Face). - TVING has kicked off promos with the first poster for Yumi’s Cells 3, bringing back our beloved heroine Kim Go-eun (The Price of Confession) and accompanied of course by her cells. And this time, the office rom-com and webtoon-adaptation will have them all aflutter with Kim Jae-won (The Art of Sarah). Slated to premiere next month on April 13, the new third season will also be broadcasting in tvN’s Monday-Tuesday slot. [MBC]
- Jang Geun-seok (Bait) is considering the part of a gangster with impressive culinary skills in a new series called Spirited Meal (roughly translated, working title). His life is then turned around when he saves a student from danger and the two bond over warm meals. Based on the popular Japanese novel that was made into Japanese drama Otoko Meshi in 2016, the Korean version is aiming to start filming later this year and has PD Lee Min-woo (Not Others) attached to direct. - Speaking of Japan, a new Japan-Korea collaboration series is also in the works, putting a top star Bona (The Haunted Palace) on a timeslip to the past, in order to save her first love Park Seo-ham (Our Universe) and uncover the truth behind whatever is causing her present-day troubles. The catch is that she’ll be in the body of her twin brother (for some reason, but it better be good). Production for the fantasy rom-com is currently in the early stages. [MBC]
- In the meantime, KBS is gearing up for Park Sung-woong (Nine Puzzles) to Cabbage Your Life on March 26 this month and guides him with the newest poster, which serves as a cute and handy village map. But as we see in the newest trailer, our hero’s first step will be appeasing Wife Lee Soo-kyung (Dog Knows Everything) as well as their three sons: Lee Jin-woo (Namib), Seo Yoon-hyuk (Weak Hero Class 2), and Yang Woo-hyuk (Surely Tomorrow).
