Reasons to watch: SBS is heading out to the rural wilds of Korea for its new rom-com, Sold Out on You, starring Ahn Hyo-seop and Chae Won-bin with Kim Bum as second lead.
The lives of our main cast converge in a tiny countryside village where Ahn Hyo-seop lives and works. Ahn is a veritable master of business, country style. He cultivates rare mushrooms, researches new uses for his crops, and handles sales for his farm to boot. It’s on the sales side that he declines to renew a contract with a large home shopping network, and this rejection kick-starts a chain reaction that brings Chae Won-bin from the city all the way to his village. Kim Bum will also be joining the leads there, and he will be playing a cosmetics company executive.
Chae is employed by the home shopping network, and as one of their top hosts, she excels at promoting and selling out everything (including Ahn’s rare mushrooms). When the contract renewal doesn’t happen, the prospect of her sales numbers dipping motivates her to take matters into her own hands and she seeks out Ahn to get the contract renewed. Things go sideways immediately as they get off on the wrong foot and he rejects her completely. Instead of retreating back to the city, she plants herself in the village, determined to turn that “no” into a “yes.” Despite their initial bad first impressions of each other, as they start to let their guards down and get vulnerable with each other, they start to fall in love.
This has all the makings of a sweet, healing rom-com with a fun enemies-to-lovers setup. I’m also preparing myself to come down with a major case of Second Lead Syndrome in the cast seeing how we have Kim Bum as the third angle in our love triangle.
