Fans are saying goodbye to the end of an era after iconic Japanese boy group ARASHI officially wrapped up their group activities.

On May 31, 2026 (local time), ARASHI held their final concert at Tokyo Dome, marking the end of the group’s 26-year journey. The group, made up of Ohno Satoshi, Sakurai Sho, Aiba Masaki, Ninomiya Kazunari, and Matsumoto Jun, debuted in 1999 and went on to become one of Japan’s most beloved and influential idol groups.

For many fans, ARASHI was more than just a group. Their music, variety shows, concerts, and individual activities became part of their school years, twenties, and even adulthood.

Following the final concert, a post about ARASHI ending their group activities gained attention on the Korean online community theqoo, where fans and non-fans alike reacted emotionally to the news.

    Well done, ARASHI…

Many expressed that it felt like an entire chapter of their lives had come to a close. Several fans also thanked the group for inspiring them beyond music.

    • Thank you, ARASHI.
    • T-T
    • Wow, I feel like this is the first time I’ve ever seen Satoshi make that kind of expression…
    • Whoa. I’m actually a Kanjani8 fan, but it feels so strange. They used to be on so many variety shows together, they really grew on me.
    • Being able to end things with a concert, without any member departures before the final moment, is not easy. It really makes me feel what a once-in-a-kind group they were.
    • I feel kind of strange.
    • They were the people I saw the most and was most familiar with when I first encountered Japanese culture, so seeing time pass like this and their activities come to an end gives me complicated feelings. I also think it’s beautiful. I had fun spending that era with them.
    • Back in my hardcore fangirl days, the reason I joined theqoo was ARASHI, so my feelings are all over the place.
    • 💙❤️💚💛💜
    • Wow, this is a group I came to know through Boys Over Flowers, so this is sad… Seeing the comments, I guess because one member is stepping away from entertainment, the team is disbanding completely? Can’t the remaining members keep the group going?

While the news was heartbreaking for many, several netizens also praised the group for ending things beautifully rather than leaving fans waiting indefinitely!

    • Good job, guys.
    • Rather than waiting with no promise, I want to applaud them for ending things beautifully. I really loved them when I was younger, and in my twenties, I even got a job in Japan because of my fangirling. Thanks to them, I gained so many different experiences and connections. I honestly haven’t listened to the songs I used to love at all since they went on hiatus, but now I want to listen again and reminisce. Bats-chan, I loved you, LOL.
    • It’s been a long time since I stopped being a fan, and I’ve gotten a lot older too, but it feels like one page of my youth is ending, so I feel strange. T-T
    • They were my youth 💙❤️💚💛💜 Thank you for making so many happy memories for me.
I hope all five of them live happily from now on. Goodbye, ARASHI.
    • Aww. T-T
    • Thank you for being with me during the hardest time of my life. All five of you worked so hard, and I hope you’ll be happy from now on. Goodbye, ARASHI.
    • So it’s really the end. Thank you for introducing me to Japan.
    • Thank you for making my youth shine beautifully!
