KBS’s upcoming crime thriller The Husband begins promotions with stills and a video from their first table read. Starring Namgoong Min (Our Movie), Kim Dae-myung (The Art of Negotiation), Lee Seol (Our Movie), and Lee Sang-hee (The Price of Confession), the story follows the struggles of one man as he tries to save his kidnapped wife.
Have you ever wished for your partner to disappear? Kang Tae-joo (Namgoong Min) certainly has. He offers upwards of 500 million won to see his wife gone, and when she does get kidnapped one day, he becomes the prime suspect. Despite being a successful neurosurgeon, Tae-joo now finds himself in the middle of a crime and must find his missing wife as he wrestles with his conflicting feelings about the whole situation.
Go Se-yoon (Lee Seol) is Tae-joo’s wife as well as the chairperson of the board at her husband’s hospital. She values principles and plans, which may have gotten her into trouble with the wrong crowd. As for her private life, her relationship with Tae-joo is on the brink of divorce, and though she still loves her husband, she also despises him and is tired of hearing his apologies.
Responsible for the kidnapping of Se-yoon is after-school computer instructor Noh Man-hee (Kim Dae-myung). A passionate man who would do anything for love — even evil things — Man-hee may seem gentle to his students, but as seen from his brief conversation with Se-yoon’s father Jang Gwang (Nice to Not Meet You), he can also be cruel and disrespectful.
Adding an element of mystery to this entire affair is the enigmatic Kim Kyung-ae (Lee Sang-hee). While she may seem friendly, her words hold an air of unease as she warns someone to be quiet unless they want something bad to happen to them.
Last but not least, Park Byung-eun makes a special appearance in the show as Lee Su-hyuk. An ex-detective, Su-hyuk now acts as a private investigator and dreams of revenge. When he meets Tae-joo, his case feels familiar to one from his past, and Su-hyuk uses the doctor as bait for his own gain.
Co-directed by PD Kim Jung-hyun (Hyper Knife) and PD Kim Min-tae with scripts by Jung Jae-ha, KBS’s The Husband is slated for twelve episodes and premieres July 4 in the Saturday-Sunday slot.
