Actor Kim Soo Hyun’s agency Gold Medalist officially confirmed the prosecutor’s detention and transfer of Kim Se Ui, CEO of the YouTube channel Garoseuro Institute, and disclosed the results of the police investigation.
On the 5th, Gold Medalist stated in an official statement, “We inform you of the results of the police investigation into several complaints and charges filed by Kim Soo Hyun and our agency against Kim Se Ui of Garoseuro Institute.”
According to the police investigation results released by the agency, Kim Se Ui was found guilty of defamation by spreading false information under the Information and Communications Network Act, violation of the Stalking Punishment Act, violation of the Sexual Violence Punishment Act (distribution of recorded material using a camera), attempted coercion, and threats, and was transferred to the prosecution under detention.
Gold Medalist explained, “Considering the seriousness of the matter, the police transferred Kim Se Ui to the prosecution under detention.”
They added, “We sincerely thank those who spoke out on behalf of Kim Soo Hyun, who was not directly involved in the case but waited for the legally prescribed procedures. We also thank those who worked diligently on investigation and verification to clarify the truth and everyone who helped to make the facts widely known.”
Furthermore, “We deeply thank the investigative authorities who conducted the investigation based solely on evidence and facts and uncovered the truth, and the judiciary for making a fair and strict judgment regarding the suspect’s detention,” they added.
They also did not forget to express gratitude to the fans.
The agency said, “We sincerely thank all the fans who have supported Kim Soo Hyun for a long time. Your faith and encouragement have been a great strength during this difficult time.”
Earlier, the police announced on the 4th that Kim Se Ui had been transferred under detention to the prosecution.
Kim Se Ui is suspected of spreading content alleging that Kim Soo Hyun dated the late Kim Sae Ron while she was a minor. During the investigation, police reportedly confirmed the possibility of manipulation of KakaoTalk messages and recorded audio disclosed during the inquiry using artificial intelligence (AI) and other technologies.
Kim Se Ui was detained on the 26th of last month on grounds of potential evidence tampering and later requested a detention review, but the court rejected it, stating, “There is no reason for the request.”
It is reported that investigations into other related suspects are continuing separately.
