Actress and model Kim Jin Kyung is facing the wrath of soccer fans over her husband Kim Seung Gyu‘s performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

On June 19, South Korea played against host nation Mexico for its second match of the tournament, and suffered a 0-1 defeat. Mexico was only able to secure its sole goal when goalkeeper Kim Seung Gyu failed to secure the ball, allowing player Luis Romo to seize the opportunity.
The match has brought Kim immense criticism from the public in the last few days. However, that backlash has also spilled over to his personal life, subjecting Kim Jin Kyung to berating comments on social media. Though the actress had nothing to do with her husband’s World Cup performance, she has received hostile comments from angered netizens, even under a video documenting her recent childbirth.
The vitriol grew so toxic that the actress was forced to close the comment section of her social media accounts and also limit her YouTube comments to subscribers only.
Kim Jin Kyung and Kim Seung Gyu tied the knot in 2024 and welcomed their first daughter recently, while Kim was preparing for his World Cup matches with the national team. He reportedly missed his daughter’s birth and initially only saw her through pictures and video calls due to his schedule.
