Song Kang and Lee Jun-young share the stage in Four Hands, Two Sonatas

Two geniuses, one stage. tvN’s upcoming coming-of-age drama Four Hands, Two Sonatas has pianist Song Kang (Sweet Home 3) playing against his rival Lee Jun-young (Reborn Rookie) as they navigate friendship, competition, and the pains of growing up at a prestige arts high school.
Unlike their prelude teaser, the newest one named “piano” gives a brief glimpse at the other side of its two protagonists’ complicated relationship. Elite student Kang Bi-oh (Song Kang) takes one end of the bench while up-and-coming genius Choi Jung-yo (Lee Jun-young) sits beside him. As they play piano four hands — a duet where two people play together on the same piano — the bright music suddenly cuts off as the title card appears: “Allegro, our radiant youth.”
“Danse Macabre” plays on screen as Jung-yo looks engrossed in the music, and Bi-oh glances over at him with an inscrutable expression. The smiles on both their faces have disappeared, and they take the stage — one in white, the other in black. Rather than look towards their audience, they stare at each other under the spotlight, and the friendly air once between them is completely gone.
Though not featured in the teaser, Jang Gyuri (When the Phone Rings) joins the boys as Bi-oh’s friend and violist Hong Jae-in. In addition, Jung Jin-young (The Apartment Job) plays Bi-oh’s grandfather, Yoon Se-ah (Love Me) plays Bi-oh’s mother, and Kim Joo-hun (Our Unwritten Seoul) rounds out the cast as the boys’ piano teacher.
While Four Hands, Two Sonatas will be Song Kang’s comeback project since his military discharge, it will also mark Lee Jun-young’s last drama before his enlistment. Premiering next month, August 29 in the Saturday-Sunday slot following Spooky in Love, tvN’s Four Hands, Two Sonatas is directed by PD Park Hyun-seok (Song of the Bandits) and written by Shin Yi-won (Don’t Call Me Ma’am).
