Broadcaster Yoo Jae Suk and singer Kim Jong Kook’s long-standing connection has been revealed.
Recently, tvN’s variety show You Quiz on the Block released a video titled “Jong Kook and Jae Suk’s first meeting! Jong Kook’s first impression of rookie Jae Suk from a side glance?!”
In the video, Yoo Jae Suk shared an anecdote about hosting a fan meeting for the group Turbo, which Kim Jong Kook was part of. He said, “I was the MC for the fan meeting. I actually thought Jong Kook would remember me. But he asked, ‘That was you, hyung?’”
Kim Jong Kook explained, “I realized it later through pictures. A fan told me that Jae Suk hyung was the MC at the fan meeting back then. But even that fan didn’t know at first. They recognized it after seeing the photos. They said, ‘Wait a minute, the MC was Yoo Jae Suk.’”
Yoo Jae Suk candidly said, “Honestly, rather than having affection for Turbo… as an MC, it’s proper to stay through the whole fan meeting and listen to the songs. But the moment I was paid, I was done. I left happily.”
In response, Kim Jong Kook recalled, “I remember that. I remember seeing you get paid. You were sitting in a corner, receiving an envelope. It was a lot of money back then. You took the white envelope and bowed at 90 degrees…”
Yoo Jae Suk added with a smile, “It was a lot of money for me, and I was really happy. I spent it well.”
Yoo Jae Suk and Kim Jong Kook have worked together on many variety shows, from X-Man to Family Outing and Running Man.
