A Korean actress opened up about the process of losing contact with her ex-husband after their divorce and the reality of not receiving child support, confessing her feelings about raising her daughter alone.
On July 25th, a video titled “Rollercoaster Goddess Jung Ga Eun 10 Years Later: Recent Updates” was released on YouTube.
In the video, Jung Ga Eun revealed that even after the divorce, she tried to maintain a relationship with her ex-husband as much as possible for their daughter’s sake.
She said, “I separated because we didn’t get along, but I couldn’t erase the presence of the father for my child,” adding, “I tried my best to let her meet her dad, but that didn’t work out well.”
She continued, “About two to two and a half years after the divorce, I found out that huge amounts of money were involved, and on the day I checked the bank account, it was zero. The last record was his departure overseas, and after that, I lost contact,” she revealed.
She also said, “What child support? Even after the divorce, he asked me to lend him money,” evoking sympathy.
Jung Ga Eun recalled moments when she had to explain her daughter’s father’s absence.
She said, “When my daughter was about seven, she asked, ‘Why don’t I live with dad?’ and ‘Why don’t you call dad?’ That was the hardest moment,” adding, “I didn’t want to make her sad, so I calmly told her, ‘Mom can’t reach him either.’”
She went on, “At a Taekwondo academy event where parents were invited forward, when I heard the words ‘Dads, please come forward,’ I almost lost it,” honestly expressing her feelings, “I feel sorry that my daughter never got to live with any kind of father.”
Looking back at her marriage, Jung Ga Eun said, “At the time, I really wanted to get married and was very lonely. I was the type to fall in love quickly when I met someone,” adding, “When I had my daughter, I thought, ‘This must be fate telling me to get married.’”
However, she clarified, “You can’t really know someone’s lifestyle or habits just from dating,” and “I only learned about his other issues after the divorce, but those were not the direct reasons for the divorce.”
Meanwhile, Jung Ga Eun has been raising her daughter alone since divorcing a businessman in 2018. Recently, she has appeared on stage in the play “Dangerous People,” while continuing various activities including regular appearances on a health program and running a YouTube channel.
