Song Review: Apink – Love Me More

Writing reviews for established, beloved acts has been dicey of late. Very few of them seek to do anything different or groundbreaking, so instead we usually get material that fits within their general sound but feels like a much lesser, more inconsequential version of it. Apink have released anniversary singles every year, but they haven’t had a proper comeback since 2023. New single Love Me More extends their run as one of the industry’s longest-lasting girl groups.

As a fifteenth-anniversary track, you might expect the song to sound like some big confetti drop. I’d recommend setting those expectations aside immediately if you’re looking to enjoy Love Me More‘s subdued groove. The track borrows elements from the group’s past — most notably the soft new jack swing beat of 2014’s Luv. The vocals are absolutely gorgeous, giving the song much more heft than any new-gen group would. The ladies sing with full power during the chorus. I only wish the song added more bite to support this.

Love Me More‘s production remains mostly in the background. A short instrumental break before the final chorus adds a bit of needed funk, but mostly the track bops along in refined, tasteful fashion. Thankfully, the melodies stretch loud and proud, giving Love Me More the kind of movement it needs to maintain listeners’ attention. It’s far from Apink’s best work, but fits well with the winter season and reminds fans just how potent they can be as performers.
