Sechs Kies member Ko Ji Yong has shared an update about his marriage.

In a post on his Instagram account on July 29, Ko revealed that he and his wife had divorced two years earlier. He stated that the information remained hidden because he wished to protect his son until he was able to understand.
He also shared that though they are no longer together, they are on good terms.
Hello, this is Ko Ji Yong.
I divorced my wife two years ago.
The reason I didn’t make it public until now was because I wanted to give my son, Seungjae, enough time to accept the situation and grow up in a stable environment.
Our divorce was a decision we made out of mutual respect for each other’s paths and to fulfill our responsibilities as adults. Seungjae understands the new relationship between his mom and dad, and he is doing well and living stably now.
I will continue to do my best as his father. Although we are no longer husband and wife, we continue to support each other and are on good terms.
I wanted to share the truth through this message to prevent any misunderstandings that may arise in the future. I kindly ask that you refrain from asking personal questions, and I would appreciate it if you continued to watch over us with warmth and support.

A representative for Ko also shared more information in a release, stating that legal action would be taken against rumors spreading, while another source claimed that Ko’s ex-wife has custody of their son, though Ko visits him frequently.
It’s unfortunate that Ko Ji Yong has been put in a situation where he has to publicly disclose such deeply personal matters. However, this was solely a decision made to protect his child, and we want to make it clear once again that there was no other reason behind it. Ko Ji Yong made his debut in 1997 with Sechs Kies.
He married a non-celebrity in 2012, and they welcomed a son in 2013.
After the group’s disbandment, Ko shifted to the field of real estate and finance, while sporadically appearing on variety shows.
