Singer Kim Jong Kook revealed the unexpected way he has managed his assets for 30 years, surprising many.
On the August 14th broadcast of KBS 2TV‘s Problem Child In House, macroeconomics expert Oh Gun Young and seasoned investor Choi Goe Min appeared to share stock investment methods and tips for investing for retirement.
On the broadcast, Kim Jong Kook introduced himself as a “financial illiterate,” saying, “I have never done any financial investment for 30 years. It’s all in cash. I only received 2% interest from the bank.”
Hearing this, Hong Jin Kyung expressed her astonishment, saying, “This guy is truly amazing.”
Kim Jong Kook then said, “I didn’t know anything about stocks, so I just saved money for 30 years,” and asked, “Is it better to put money in the bank or invest in stocks?”
In response, Choi Goe Min emphasized the necessity of stock investment, saying, “There are two types of people: those who own shares of Samsung Electronics and those who don’t.”
He explained his investment philosophy, stating, “In my opinion, stock investment is not optional but essential. Owning your own house has become someone else’s story. It’s impossible to buy a house just by receiving a salary.“
