BIGBANG‘s appearance on Running Man has failed to materialize for over a decade, and the alleged reason has been revealed.
On the September 6 episode of SBS‘s Running Man, the members appeared dressed up in response to the production team’s request to “dress carefully.”
On the broadcast, Haha appeared wearing a BIGBANG merchandise t-shirt, revealing his deep fandom saying, “I went to BIGBANG’s concert yesterday.”
Haha continued, “Yesterday’s BIGBANG concert was chaotic,” and Yoo Jae Suk responded, “We have a close bond with BIGBANG.” Haha then sent a public request for a Running Man appearance, saying to the camera, “BIGBANG, come out once.”
At this, Ji Suk Jin asked, “Why doesn’t BIGBANG appear?” Yoo Jae Suk revealed an unexpected reason: G-Dragon had a very tough time when he appeared on Running Man in the past.
Yoo Jae Suk admitted, “G-Dragon struggled a lot before. It was quite intense back then.” Haha laughed and added, “GD has some bad memories,” recalling the famous scene of G-Dragon during the mudflat shoot.
BIGBANG appeared as on Running Man in 2015 and fiercely competed with the members. At the time, G-Dragon and the others threw themselves into a game in the mudflat, showing exceptional variety spirit.
Nearly ten years have passed since then, and BIGBANG has yet to make a return. Yoo Jae-suk’s admission that “It was quite intense then,” along with Haha mentioning GD’s “bad memories,” brought renewed laughter recalling the harsh mudflat filming experience.
Nonetheless, Haha once again sent a request, “I want to see BIGBANG. Come out once,” and the production team also expressed anticipation for BIGBANG’s return with subtitles saying, “We will lay out the flower path and wait.”
