Yet, as the clip started to go viral, the idol was hit with malicious hate.

In particular, netizens hit back at DK’s tears and vulnerability, explaining that they had no sympathy for the idol and calling him names.

Not 1 ounce of sympathy, yall made it hell for BTS so i truly dgaf, pack your bags.👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 https://t.co/RwUMJ7pwUt

What a pussy. Pack your bags and go to the military https://t.co/3x6NALtk1o

Netizens came to DK’s defence, hitting back at the awful and cruel comments towards the idol for showing his emotions for a controversial part of Korean society.

mocking a man for showing vulnerability or getting emotional is just pure toxic masculinity and qrts and replies filled with sexist people no wonder you guys are okay knowing that your favs support a known woman abuser and don’t give a shit that he called y’all h*es https://t.co/QNgYFkL1Ad

this is why i will never understand kpop stans using military service for fanwars, laughing at idols for having to go…

the way it is globally known that the military genuinely RUINS a person’s mental health, mandatory service or not. https://t.co/jeRwI1UbJx
