SHINee‘s Minho revealed that he suffered an injury to his eye after being kicked in the face during a triathlon.
The incident was shown on the November 6 episode of MBC‘s variety show I Live Alone, which followed Minho as he competed in a triathlon in Tongyeong, South Korea.
The competition consisted of three events: a 1.5km swim, a 40 km cycling course, and a 10 km run. Minho had set himself a goal of completing the entire race in around two hours and 20 minutes.
Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned from the very beginning.
While swimming alongside the other competitors, Minho was suddenly kicked in the face by someone swimming ahead of him. He had to stop briefly after the impact.
To some extent, physical contact is allowed in swimming because of the nature of the event. Some people even grab your shoulders and pull you. When everyone is moving back and forth, some things are unavoidable.

He also revealed that he thought he might have been bleeding.
I got kicked in the face during the race, and it felt like I was bleeding. I tried to check with my mouth every time I took a breath, but since the water itself was salty, I couldn’t tell whether it was blood or not.

After completing the swimming portion, he headed to the transition area, where viewers could see that the area around his eye had become swollen.
Despite the painful incident, Minho continued competing.
Congratulations, Minho, on finishing 3rd in the men’s 35–39 age group at the Tongyeong Triathlon! 🏆
