A top Korean actor admitted to running a second, private Instagram account, and his usage of the account left netizens scratching their heads.
On September 17th, a video was uploaded on Netflix Korea’s YouTube channel to promote the film The Scandal, featuring cast members Son Ye Jin, Ji Chang Wook, and Nana.
In the video, when the topic of Son Ye Jin’s secondary social media account came up, Ji Chang Wook said, “I had that experience before. These days, with how much people use social media, at some point I wanted to show off,” and shared his story about having a secondary account.
He added, “Sometimes I buy expensive or nice things, and usually people post about those. But posting that on my official account felt a bit too arrogant, ans I wanted to flex a little on social media. So I created a private account just for myself and posted there. No one could see it.”
Yoo Byung Jae asked curiously, “So what was that? Like shouting ‘Yahoo!’ alone on a mountain?” Ji Chang Wook replied, “Yes, just like that. For example, I bought a car but rarely post pictures of it, so I posted once. You know those photos, like a picture of the car’s steering wheel or wearing a watch and taking a picture, posted on the private account just for my satisfaction. But after a while, I realized it feels like a flex only if someone sees it, and since no one did, I stopped uploading on the private account.”
Then Yoo Byung Jae said, “If you say this, fans will be looking for it,” to which Ji Chang Wook responded, “You can’t find it now. I deleted it,” revealing that the private account had already been deleted.
