A beloved Korean actor recalled the difficult time battling leukemia and showed tears.
On the KBS 2TV variety show Happy Together – Glad I’m Not Alone, airing on August 7th, longtime close friends Choi Sung Won, Park Hae Soo, Lim Cheol Soo, and Park Jae Yoon will appear.
The preview released ahead of the broadcast showed Choi Sung won reminiscing about his leukemia battle in the past.
MC Jang Hang Jun cautiously brought up the topic, saying, “There was an article about Choi Sung Won being sick when his work was doing very well.” In response, Choi Sung Won revealed the pain at the time, saying, “I was sick in 2016, and then it relapsed. It was extremely difficult.”
He added, “It was to the point where I didn’t want to think about it again,” and eventually his eyes welled up, arousing sympathy.
Choi Sung Won was diagnosed with acute leukemia in 2016 and temporarily suspended activities. After completing treatment, he made a comeback in 2018, but the disease relapsed two years later, and he underwent treatment again. Having undergone a bone marrow transplant, he was declared fully cured after two years of long treatment.
