“Why are there so many people these days who are dying to hate on female idols?”

Recently, NMIXX‘s Sullyoon drew attention after she appeared on stage while dealing with severe back pain. While many fans were worried about her health, some criticism also surfaced about her decision to continue performing rather than fully sit out.

Following the performance, Sullyoon took to Bubble to explain the situation in her own words and reassure fans. According to Sullyoon, both her company and the hospital had suggested that it would be best for her to rest. However, she still wanted to participate in at least part of the performance.

The company and the hospital both said it would be better if I rested, but I still wanted to do at least a little bit of the stage. I did tell them that I would sit down if it hurt too much while performing haha.

    — Sullyoon

Sullyoon then clarified that it was not necessarily because sitting hurt less. Rather, she was worried that pushing herself too far could affect the rest of the tour. She also told fans not to worry too much and revealed that she was actually upset that she could not perform the way she wanted to.

Sullyoon: I figured if I kept going, it would affect the remaining tour. So I said I’d perform while sitting. Anyway, don’t worry too much. I was just sad because I couldn’t perform.

Fan: Sullyoon, next time, will you try listening to the doctor?

    Sullyoon: LOL. Okay.

However, fans have since become even more concerned about Sullyoon, with many urging her to prioritize recovery over pushing through the pain. One netizen wrote, “Why are people criticizing someone who is hurt? Shouldn’t she be resting and recovering? If you overdo it when you’re young, you suffer when you’re older. I’m not even a fan, but my first thought is worry.”

    • “Why are there so many people these days who are dying to hate on female idols? Wow, the comments are seriously disgusting.”
    • “Why are people criticizing someone who is hurt? Shouldn’t she be resting and then continuing activities? If you overdo it when you’re young, you suffer when you’re older ㅠㅠ I’m not even a fan of this idol, but my first thought is worry.”
    • “I’m not even a fan, but do we really have to blame someone for something like this… It’s not Sullyoon’s fault or the company’s fault, so people who want to blame someone first should just shut up. I hate people who are so desperate to blame someone whenever anything happens.”
    • “Please, if you’re hurt, just lie down. Please rest. I seriously hope all idols stop enduring pain and going on stage. It’s not cool at all, so just get treatment and recover.”
    • “When a member of my favorite group had a really severe herniated disc, they went on hiatus and couldn’t even straighten their back while walking. Herniated discs are scary. They need to be treated early ㅠ.”
    • “Yep. If your back hurts, you absolutely have to rest. Oh no ㅠ.”
    • “Oh no ㅠㅠ Treatment is important, but of course she must also have ambition for the stage… I understand how she feels, but I’m so worried.”
    • “Maybe once she actually got on stage, it hurt more than she expected…”
    • “This is so sad. I hope she isn’t in too much pain…”
    • “After the first section, she finished the rest of the performance while sitting, and she’s receiving hospital treatment. If you’re really worried, just cheer for her to recover quickly, please. OP, if you’re not a troll, please add that she did the rest while sitting.”

Others defended Sullyoon from the criticism altogether, pointing out that there was no need to blame either the idol or the company. Amid the criticism, many fans are simply hoping Sullyoon recovers quickly and safely.
