Singer Kim Jong Kook attracted attention for revealing he has never visited a dentist.
The first episode of SBS Plus’ The Way of the Manly Man in Kyushu, aired on the 21st, featured Choo Sung Hoon, Kim Jong Kook, and BIGBANG‘s Daesung visiting Kyushu, Japan. The three visited a restaurant selling 1kg whole tenderloin steaks and continued their meal with sundubu (soft tofu stew). Kim Jong Kook explained the dish’s characteristics, saying, “It’s not like Korean sundubu. It actually tastes more like a rich ramen broth. It has that kind of feel.”
During the meal, Kim Jong Kook and Choo Sung Hoon exchanged opinions about food preferences. He said, “Is a manly man someone who just refuses to eat food he doesn’t like?” and continued the discussion. Later, when the sound of chewing clams was heard while eating sundubu, Daesung commented, “You don’t leave food you’re given. He ate the hot sundubu along with the clam shells. A crazy manly man,” summarizing the situation.
During this exchange, Kim Jong Kook mentioned his dental health, saying, “I have never been to a dentist in my life. I haven’t had any treatment at all.” Born in 1976, Kim Jong Kook is currently 49 years old. Upon hearing this, Choo Sung Hoon replied, “That’s strange.” Daesung added, “That’s a blessing, not just being manly.”
Kim Jong Kook, who secretly married a non-celebrity wife last September and became a family man, boasted, “How much money did I save? Dentists are expensive.” Previously already known as a penny-pincher, Kim Jong Kook shocked viewers as he seemingly had saving money in mind while not visiting the dentist.
