Actor Kim Soo Hyun has made his first public appearance in over a year, but his return did not take place in South Korea.
On August 23, Indonesian broadcaster RCTI announced Kim Soo Hyun’s arrival in Indonesia via its official social media account.
The actor appeared as a special guest on Mahakarya RCTI 37, a special live broadcast celebrating RCTI’s 37th anniversary.
During the event, he met local fans, gave an interview, and performed. Videos from the appearance showed the actor smiling and waving at fans, giving thumbs-up gestures, and making finger hearts.
The crowd greeted him enthusiastically.
The appearance marks a significant change for Kim Soo Hyun, who has largely stayed out of the public eye amid the controversy surrounding his alleged past relationship with the late Kim Sae Ron.

His activities have recently started picking up again, however. The controversial actor has resumed advertising activities and is now taking on overseas schedules.
His return has also come as legal disputes surrounding the actor continue in South Korea. Most recently, YouTuber Kim Se Ui was arrested on charges of defamation.

Meanwhile, Kim Soo Hyun’s overseas schedules are set to continue. On October 2, he is scheduled to attend a fan meeting hosted by Filipino lifestyle brand BENCH.
