Maria Kano has issued an apology following a recent magazine report that linked her to actor Ryoki Miyama, her co-star in the stage adaptation of Crash Landing on You.

On July 22, Kano’s agency released an official statement addressing the controversy, apologizing to fans and those involved.
The agency stated that it had confirmed the details with Kano and acknowledged that she did spend time alone with her co-star.

We sincerely apologize for causing great concern and inconvenience to everyone involved, as well as to all those who have supported Maria Kano, due to a report published by a certain weekly magazine.
Regarding the matter that was reported, after confirming the facts with her, it is true that she spent time alone with one of her co-stars. The purpose was to deepen her understanding of her role in the stage production, but it is also true that this ultimately resulted in an inappropriate decision. She herself is taking this matter seriously and deeply regrets her lack of awareness and insufficient judgment.

The statement comes after Shukan Bunshun published a report alleging that Kano and Miyama had met privately while working together on Crash Landing on You. The report gained attention due to both actors being married, with Miyama also having welcomed his first child with actress Shuri in 2025.
