It has been confirmed that singer PSY has been referred to prosecution on charges of receiving prescriptions for psychotropic drugs.

According to MBC reports, the Seoul Western District Prosecutor’s Office received the case yesterday and is investigating four individuals, including PSY, a university hospital professor, and his manager, on charges of violating the Medical Service Act.

Psy is accused of receiving prescriptions for drugs from 2022 until last year without any in-person examination, and having third parties, such as his manager, collect them on his behalf.

The medication prescribed to Psy is a drug used to treat depression and sleep disorders, and due to its high dependency and addiction rate, in-person examination is a mandatory procedure.

Current medical laws state that only a physician who has directly examined the patient can issue a prescription.

Previously, during the investigation, Psy’s agency, P Nation, released a statement of apology: “Receiving prescription meds on behalf of someone else was a clear mistake and oversight.”
