On the popular variety show I Live Alone, Jun Hyun Moo revealed his solo spontaneous trip to Kazakhstan, topping the non-drama cast buzz rankings. However, suspicions arose that the entire spontaneous trip was staged.
Jun Hyun Moo ranked first in the non-drama cast buzz survey for the third week of August, released by Good Data Corporation FUNdex.
This is the first time since 2023 that Jun Hyun Moo has topped the buzz rankings due to his activities on I Live Alone. The second part of Jun Hyun Moo’s “29-hour spontaneous trip to Kazakhstan,” aired on August 21st, recorded a nationwide viewership rating of 6.5%, drawing significant attention.
However, after the broadcast, some raised doubts about the likelihood of a one-night, two-day trip to Kazakhstan being truly spontaneous.
One netizen pointed out that renting a car by phone at Almaty Airport, as Jun Hyun Moo did, was overly simplified for the show. They noted that car rentals require notarization at the local Almaty consulate or a separate notarization of a driver’s license at the Korean embassy in Kazakhstan.
Another netizen who had rented a car recently added, “An international driver’s license isn’t accepted. You must leave your license at the embassy at 8 a.m. for notarization and can only pick it up at 2 p.m. It can’t be done as quickly as shown on the broadcast.”
Criticism also extended to the I Live Alone production team, with questions raised about whether buying the same flight tickets on such short notice was even possible beyond Jun Hyun Moo himself.
One netizen expressed concern over the spontaneous travel concept, saying, “What if people try to imitate this after watching it?”
That said, some believe the broadcast should be taken as entertainment. Several netizens defended the show, saying, “Although I Live Alone may be staged, Jun Hyun Moo said he often travels like that,” and, “Staging is inevitable in variety shows.”
