Prosecutors have requested a shocking prison sentence for a man in his 30s, identified as A, who was charged with breaking into After School member-turned-actress Nana’s home and causing injury.
Last November, A broke into Nana’s home in Guri, Gyeonggi Province, demanded valuables, and threatened them with a weapon. After a physical struggle, Nana and her mother subdued the intruder and handed him over to the police.
During the trial, both Nana and her mother appeared as witnesses. Upon entering the courtroom, Nana expressed anger toward A, saying, “Are you having fun? Look me in the eye.” The judge reminded her to maintain courtroom decorum, noting, “We understand your feelings, but the trial cannot proceed smoothly if you remain agitated.” Nana responded, “I can’t help but feel this way.”
Nana also revealed the severe trauma caused by the incident, stating, “I believe I gave this person every opportunity and made the right decisions in that situation. So why is the trial dragging on like this, and why must we endure humiliation? It feels like I’m being victimized over and over again.”
On the 19th, the Namyangju branch of the Uijeongbu District Prosecutors’ Office requested a 10-year sentence for A during the final hearing on charges of robbery and injury.
The prosecution stated, “The defendant committed a serious crime by unlawfully entering the residence armed with a weapon and threatening female victims. Severe punishment is necessary.” They added, “He denied the charges and showed no remorse, and the victims are suffering psychological distress.”
In his final defense, A’s lawyer argued, “He only broke in at night with the intent to steal and did not intend to commit robbery. There is no evidence that the defendant carried a weapon during the intrusion.” A himself said, “I sincerely apologize to the victims and will never commit a crime again. I admit to unlawful entry and attempted theft but deny any acts of robbery.”
The sentencing hearing for A is scheduled for June 9.
