A recent post on theqoo drew attention to a clip of Hwanhee crying after seeing his mother take a “jangsu” (longevity) photo, a portrait often prepared in advance to be used as a funeral portrait later in life. On Mr. House Husband, Hwanhee was seen taking his mom to get a passport photo taken. When he stepped outside the studio for a second, his mom approached the photographer asking, “Could I possibly take a funeral portrait?”
My mom passed away recently. Seeing that they had to use an ID photo as my mom’s funeral portrait really broke my heart. I thought that if something happened to me, my sons might be caught off guard. I don’t even have any solo photos, so I felt the need to take a funeral portrait.

When Hwanhee returned and saw his mom taking another photo, he asked what was going on. The photographer explained that it was for the future. Although the idea of taking such a photo can be practical, the emotional weight of the moment hit Hwanhee hard.
Upon seeing his mother pose for the portrait, Hwanhee could not hold back his tears. Rather than reacting calmly, the singer broke down on camera, overwhelmed by the thought of eventually losing his mother.
The moment resonated strongly with Korean netizens, many of whom said they completely understood why he reacted that way. The post quickly gained attention online, receiving over 70,000 views and hundreds of comments.
