According to police sources on April 17, the Gangnam Police Station received a formal complaint from the victim, Ms. B, accusing Mr. Kim, who was arrested on April 15 on charges of indecent assault, of threatening and distributing her images with the help of Mr. A, his acquaintance.
The actual incident took place on April 14, when Mr. Kim spent ₩3.00 million KRW (about $2,030 USD) to secure the first-place prize in the lottery-style giveaway arranged by Ms. B— a dinner date voucher and photos via KakaoTalk. After the dinner date, Kim allegedly took Ms. B to his place, promising not to initiate any sexual contact. However, his demeanor changed after they arrived at his residence. Ms. B reportedly locked herself in the bathroom and sent panicked text messages to her manager to rescue her.
Manager: Zoom in on the location and send it to me.
Ms. B: Please
Manager: Location
Ms. B: I really want to die.
Manager: Zoom in on the location
Ms. B: Please…XXX just took my clothes off forcefully
Manager: Location. Try zooming in on the location on Naver.
Ms. B: I’m very scared. What do I do? I think he will kill me. What do I do? Please save me.
Manager: I’m almost there. Wait for me. Lock the door and wait for me.
Ms. B: Please help me. I don’t even know the unit number. I’m going crazy. Really.

The horror, however, didn’t stop with the arrest of Mr. Kim. According to Ms. B, after his arrest, she received a nude photograph of herself on April 17 from a Hong Kong-based KakaoTalk account, along with a “Hi” emoticon. When asked about how they got the photo, the account responded with threatening messages, saying that it would be released on the internet soon. When Ms. B pleaded not to disseminate the picture, the account responded, “Your parents must be disappointed. If you stop broadcasting and hide, I will not distribute the pictures.”
Ms. B suspects that this account is owned by Mr. A, an acquaintance of Kim. She alleged that since Kim couldn’t use a mobile phone from his holding cell, he must have conspired with “A” to intimidate her from the outside.
The police have launched an investigation into these additional claims while also having applied for an arrest warrant for Kim.
