K-Pop Idol Gets Candid About The Difficulties Of Having A Group Reunion

A K-Pop girl group member shared her thoughts on having a reunion with her fellow members, revealing how tough the process has been.

On the 6th, MBC entertainment show Radio Star aired an episode featuring Choi Daniel, SeeYa‘s Nam Gyuri, Ahn Ji Young, and TXT‘s Beomgyu.

SeeYa reunited after disbanding in 2011, 15 years ago. Regarding this, Nam Gyuri revealed, “We formed SeeYa Corporation. We set it up with the members and each took on a role, and I’m the CEO.”

She added, “Boram is the executive director, Yeonji is the managing director. We own shares and are the owners, so we included about 10 new original tracks with our own story,” and said it will be released on May 14.

When asked who initiated and pushed for the reunion, Nam Gyuri said, “I’m the oldest and the leader, so after Sugarman 3, I wanted to release an album, but unfortunately, it fell through. Each of us belongs to different companies and conditions vary, so I thought maybe we’d never do it.”

She even revealed that many misunderstandings had built up among the members during the reunion process. Nam Gyuri recalled, “The intermediaries conveying messages often said things differently from what was meant. So the three of us met and spoke honestly. We thought if not for the 20th anniversary, we might never have a chance to come back together.”

She continued, “We decided to exclude anyone who didn’t want to do the 20th anniversary, but at least for the rest of us, I said we have to do it. I asked if they would or wouldn’t do it and pushed them.”

It turned out the members felt the same. Nam Gyuri said, “Everyone wanted to do it. That misunderstanding was cleared in an instant, and we’ve been meeting almost daily to record new songs.”

Above all, Nam Gyuri broke down in tears while harmonizing with the members, saying, “Listening to their voices, I thought, ‘We really went through hard times.’ I wondered why it took so long for us to come back together.”

At this moment, MC Kim Guk Jin empathized, saying, “At some point, you suddenly felt it all simultaneously and burst into tears,” to which Nam Gyuri responded, “Exactly,” holding back tears.
