KATSEYE’s Lara has broken her silence on rumors that she went partying after the group’s last-minute concert cancellation earlier this week.

On November 3, KATSEYE postponed their sold-out show in Detroit, Michigan, just 30 minutes before it was due to begin after Megan fell ill. Since then, two more shows on THE WILDWORD TOUR this week have also been canceled. Shortly after the Detroit show was called off, videos began spreading on social media that claimed to show Lara partying that same night.

As the footage went viral, several fans slammed the star, accusing the group of canceling the concert intentionally to prioritize having fun.

But on November 7, Lara took to Weverse DM to set the record straight. In an audio message, she questioned how anyone could believe the group’s label would ever let the members cancel a show just to go out for the night.
After everything people know about us, I’m like, do you really think our label would allow this?
Do you really think this would be okay for us to be like, ‘Yeah, we just want to cancel the show and go party’?
Do you really think our label would be like, ‘Sure, go ahead, let’s just waste all these people’s time and money and everything to just go out for a night’? That would just never happen.

Lara also pushed back on the idea that she would want to skip a show at all, admitting that she’s “actually so bothered” by the accusations.
Newsflash, I actually love to be on stage. We all love to be on stage. I would actually much rather be in a fucking arena, doing what I love and what I work so hard to achieve, and making people happy, than go to a random party in Detroit. Who wouldn’t rather be on a stage?
Oh my god, you guys, I’m actually so bothered. I know I’m supposed to pretend like this is water off my back, but it’s not. I’m bothered. Sue me. This is really annoying.

As it turns out, eagle-eyed fans had already poked holes in the claims. Several EYEKONs pointed out that the video was actually filmed and originally posted in April after KATSEYE’s Coachella performance, with the giveaway detail being that Lara no longer has the black hair seen in the clip.
