IVE‘s Wonyoung is the latest K-Pop idol to face scrutiny over her looks after a clip from her appearance on Zach Sang‘s show went viral on TikTok and eventually on X.
The clip quickly drew attention for the wrong reasons after netizens accused Wonyoung of not being able to move her face due to the allegedly massive amount of filler and Botox.
omg she genuinely can’t move her face anymore bruh 💔 pic.twitter.com/j9U5FtDw5G

Wonyoung’s visuals triggered extreme hate. Some went as far as calling her addicted to plastic surgery, arguing she was reinforcing harmful beauty standards through her appearance.
she’s adorable and seems so sweet but it’s not misogyny to talk about a woman who has an addiction to plastic surgery and how she is proselytizing patriarchal standards by being sickly thin and having a face full of filler. shes beautiful but ppl are gonna talk and that’s normal. https://t.co/4P6iPjCvvf

Not everyone was on board with the pile-on, though. Some fans pushed back, claiming that Koreans naturally tend to use less facial movement when speaking. Others blamed makeup for Wonyoung’s appearance.
한국인들은 원래 말할때 표정근육 잘 안씀. 영어로 말해도 그 습관으로인해 원어민만큼 근육을 잘 안움직임 못움직임 근육 발달이안되서 https://t.co/aON8uNfmUa

Y’all are dumb? If you watch her vlog you can see that most of this is makeup, it’s before and after lip’s makeup, outline contour + v pump lipstick https://t.co/wt3UmeH0WO pic.twitter.com/mvjNcSfST8

What are your thoughts? Has Wonyoung had too many cosmetic procedures, or is it simply due to heavy makeup? Let us know your opinion in the comments section of our social media post.
