Kim Mu-yeol is coming to Teach You a Lesson

    by lovepark

Netflix gears up for its upcoming school action drama Teach You a Lesson with a new teaser and poster. Starring Kim Mu-yeol (Queen Woo) as a harbinger of justice, bullies beware because this inspector is ready to clean up the hallways and make schools safe again.

In this world, schools are overrun by delinquents who fear no one. Classrooms are filled with graffiti, students harass their teachers, and nobody can stop them, not even the police. Enter Na Hwa-jin (Kim Mu-yeol), an inspector from the Educational Rights Protection Bureau (ERPB). This fictionalized government agency is led by the Education Minister Lee Sung-min (Nine Puzzles) who hopes to combat the rising issue of gambling, drugs, and gang activities in schools. That’s where inspectors like Hwa-jin come in, along with his colleagues Jin Ki-joo (Undercover High School ) and Pyo Ji-hoon (Good Partner). Their job is not to stand with teachers or even students, but rather the victims.

The ERPB is here to protect as well as teach schools a lesson. Sometimes that requires a bit of violence on the inspector’s part, and from the quick snippets in the teaser, it seems safe to say that there will be plenty of flips and kicks going around for everyone. As Hwa-jin announces his plans to teach them a proper lesson, he hears a student scream and jumps off a building to catch her. Despite using his body to absorb the impact, Hwa-jin manages to get up from the accident relatively intact, but the other inspectors nearly faint as they see him bleeding from the head.

Adapted from the webtoon of the same name (Get Schooled in English), the source material has been caught in a couple of controversies since its inception, most notably for its racist depictions and use of a slur which ultimately got it pulled from international publications. Hopefully PD Hong Jong-chan (Mr. Plankton) and screenwriter Lee Nam-kyu (Heavenly Ever After) have taken the appropriate measures with those issues for the upcoming show. Teach You a Lesson begins streaming on Netflix July 5.
