A Korean star recalled the most difficult time in her life, explaining the heartbreaking marks she left on her wrist.
On the 19th, a video uploaded on YouTube featured comedian and singer Kim Mi Ryeo, who shared how she became a comedian and her life story after achieving success.
Kim Mi Ryeo confessed, “During the ‘Mrs.’ segment, there was jealousy and rumors of exclusion.” She heard such stories from someone on the makeup team. Kim Mi Ryeo gained great popularity playing the role of Mrs. in the MBC comedy program It’s A Gag.
She also identified the hardest period as after the success of “Mrs.” — when she was “doing well.” She recalled, “I didn’t make as much money as I thought. I think my manager embezzled a lot. There were many sponsored advertisements, but I didn’t get paid. I believed all of it. I kept going to the bank—knowing there was zero in my account but kept putting my passbook in and taking it out repeatedly,” evoking sympathy.
She continued, “That’s what the managers did at the time. I became mentally exhausted,” carefully beginning, “I’ve never revealed this on air before,” and then showed her wrist to Moon Cheon Sik. There were heartbreaking marks left. The caption “Did Kim Mi Ryeo attempt suicide?” appeared, and Moon Cheon Sik expressed shock, saying, “Kim Mi Ryeo?”
Kim Mi Ryeo calmly explained, “The next day was a recording, and my colleague Kyung Bun wore earplugs and slept. She barely woke me up, and we went to the hospital,” describing the scene drenched in blood.
At that time, Kim Mi Ryeo was even performing as the lead in a musical. She said, “I wrapped a towel around my wrist. Everyone noticed, but no one said anything. I was 27 or 28 years old.”
Meanwhile, Kim Mi Ryeo married actor Jung Sung Yoon in 2013, and they have two children.
