It has been three years since ASTRO member Moonbin passed away. Moonbin died on April 19, 2023, at the age of 25.

According to the police, Moonbin was found dead at his home in Gangnam-gu, Seoul at around 8:10 p.m. that day. It is reported that his manager found him and reported it to the police.

At the time, his agency Fantagio released an official statement saying, “We are sorry to bring such sorrowful and heartbreaking news. On April 19, ASTRO member Moonbin suddenly left us and became a star in the sky.”

The sudden news shocked the entertainment industry. The fact that he passed away at a young age, amid his ongoing fan concert world tour Diffusion, and with plans to perform at the Dream Concert in May as part of the ASTRO unit Moonbin & Sanha, made the impact even greater.

Fellow group members rushed to the funeral home after hearing the tragic news. Cha Eunwoo, who had been in Los Angeles for a brand event, returned urgently, and MJ, who was serving in the military, received emergency leave to head to the funeral.

Even after Moonbin’s passing, final tributes continued from friends and colleagues who remembered him. On the first anniversary, ASTRO members released a tribute song titled “Fly.” Last year, on the second anniversary, Moonbin’s younger sister Moon Sua, ASTRO members, VIVIZ, MONSTA X and some members of SEVENTEEN, Stray Kids’ Bang Chan — a total of 22 artists and friends came together to release the memorial song “Moon In A Dream.”

The late Moonbin debuted in 2016 as a member of ASTRO and was active in various fields. Starting as a child actor, he won much love through diverse acting roles in works such as Boys Over Flowers, At Eighteen, and The Mermaid Prince.
