Actors Jin Seon Kyu and Park Bo Kyung are winning hearts worldwide after their unexpectedly cinematic interaction at the 5th Blue Dragon Series Awards.
The ceremony took place on July 31 at Paradise City in Incheon, bringing together stars from some of the year’s biggest streaming series. Both spouses arrived as nominees in the supporting acting categories, reportedly marking the first time a married couple had been nominated together at the ceremony. The pair already had viewers swooning on the red carpet, where they coordinated in black and posed affectionately together.
The real-life K-Drama, however, began when Park Bo Kyung was announced as Best Supporting Actress for her performance in The Art of Sarah. As her name was called, the visibly stunned actress remained frozen in her seat for a moment. Jin Seon Kyu appeared even more overwhelmed, immediately tearing up as he helped his wife to her feet and guided her toward the stage.
Once Park Bo Kyung began her acceptance speech, cameras repeatedly returned to her husband, who was wiping away tears with the sleeve of his suit.

The win carried particular weight for the couple. Park Bo Kyung began acting in 2003 but later stepped away from her career for eight years to raise their children. Jin Seon Kyu has previously spoken emotionally about the sacrifice, explaining that he became their primary breadwinner while his wife gave up acting to care for their family.
After returning to the industry, Park Bo Kyung gradually gained attention for scene-stealing performances in dramas such as Little Women. Her Blue Dragon Series Award reportedly marked the first acting trophy of her 23-year career.

During her speech, Park reflected on watching other actors accept awards and wondering whether she would ever experience a moment like it herself.
She also thanked the people who gave her another opportunity despite her career interruption and what she jokingly described as her less-than-impressive acting profile. Then, she turned her attention to her sobbing husband.
Whenever I watched acceptance speeches that were sincere and witty, I would laugh and cry along with them. Sometimes, I wondered, ‘Will a day like that ever come in my life?’ Then I would shake my head and think, ‘I just hope I can get even one audition.’ Thank you for allowing me to give an acceptance speech. My husband, Jin Seon Kyu, is more surprised than I am and is crying so much right now. I lost my engagement ring, so we haven’t really had any matching couple items since then. But now, I have the same trophy as yours, one I’m not going to lose! So, honey, it’s our Day 1 today.

Her playful declaration immediately drew laughter from the audience, while Jin Seon Kyu continued struggling to contain his emotions. Clips of the interaction quickly spread beyond Korea, where international viewers compared the couple’s story to a K-Drama. Korean netizens were equally emotional over the moment.
