Ryu Joon-yeol falls into a Mousetrap with Sol Kyung-gu

Netflix has dropped a new teaser and poster for its upcoming mystery-thriller Mousetrap. Adapted from the webtoon by ludovico, the story takes inspiration from the Korean folktale about a mouse that ate fingernails and became a human. As the proverbial rat threatens to steal the identity of Ryu Joon-yeol (The 8 Show), he teams up with Sol Kyung-gu (Hyper Knife) to reclaim his life and unmask the person behind it all.
Je Moon-jae (Ryu Joon-yeol) is a reclusive writer known only by his pen name and heralded as a genius. He lives in his lavish yet empty apartment by himself and spends his days without much trouble until, one day, his fingerprint stops working. He can no longer access his phone, but this is only the beginning of his troubles.
Someone called “the rat” has targeted Moon-jae and plans to take everything he owns. First was his phone and next are his bank accounts. Despite Moon-jae’s pleas that he is who he says he is, all he receives in turn is a cold and uncaring, “But how are you going to prove it?”
As Moon-jae falls deeper into the rat’s twisted game, he starts to see his doppelganger on the streets, but are these hallucinations born from desperation or the impossible made real by his enemy? Either way, the reclusive writer must prove his identity or end up as the impostor in his own life.
Moon-jae, though, is not alone in this game since he forms an unlikely alliance with loan shark No-ja (Sol Kyung-gu). In order to get back his money, No-ja has no choice but to help Moon-jae, but a third figure — Detective Soon-yong, played by Lee Kyu-hyung (Kick Kick Kick Kick) — is also on the hunt. As the game leads these different pieces down a dangerous path, will they be able to uncover the mastermind’s true identity or fall prey to their lies?
Premiering August 28, Netflix’s Mousetrap is directed by PD Kim Hong-sun (Dear Hongrang, The Guest) and written by Lee Jae-gon (A Model Family).
