Current watches:
The Legend of Kitchen Soldier:
This week, the episodes were so upsetting because people are doing a job they don’t want to do in order to be skilled up for a future nobody wants but have to prepare for just in case. Whilst these young men and women are dedicating their precious time, it has a huge impact on their lives, as we’ve seen with people dying, friends moving on, losing relationships. Alongside all of that, it’s annoying to see Chunik and Mingu sorting themselves out, making money and leaving the Kanglim outpost to suffer violations of their basic human rights to a consistent, regular meal. Thankfully, whilst all of that was going on, we also had funny storylines, as per usual. The Morse code scene was so ridiculous. Clearly Seokho just didn’t think that nobody would be able to pick up on his signal because nobody’s got the required receptive device anymore. It just was hilarious watching him doing that with his damaged arms in splints. The writers must have had so much fun writing that character.
My royal nemesis:
I’m struggling to watch this week’s episodes because it is quite dark. The Joseon storyline is dark; the current Mundo is unnecessarily dark. I just don’t get it. His kid is lucky he lives away from him, where Mundo will have minimal impact on who he grows up to be.
Reborn Rookie:
I think I’m going to continue watching this one. It looks like it’ll be interesting, and it’ll be good to see the father and daughter working well together so that they can get the company away from the spoiled twins.
Diary of a Prosecutor:
Thanks to the beanie/beanies who told me to watch this, I can’t believe how long I avoided it, thinking it was some kind of thriller. I’m absolutely loving it. I’m slow watching it, but it is laugh-out-loud funny.
Japanese corner:
Tatsuki – Too Kind for School
I am part way through watching this weeks epsiode. I always thought it odd that there was a homeless man allowed to sleep on the premises of an alternative school as they are working with vulnerable children. He has proved to be an asset as he works with the children to help them when he couldn’t help his own child due to the lack of appropriate guidance but he is not qualified to work therapeutically and the one who is just pops in now and again. It’s no wonder that he is getting too involved with the children and saying and doing things from a well meaning place but without the authority or experience to manage the potential fallout.
Japanese film
Lump in my heart.
I have been looking for this for years so settled for the poor picture quality. I’m just glad that I finally found a way to watch it.
It’s a story of a women in her first-year of university who has a routine health check and discovers that she has breast cancer.
